In the Studio

It has been a very busy summer here (hence the quiet blog), though I have been carefully carving out time to work.  These two pieces above I recently finished (and are awaiting varnish) are of Galadria.  I have an idea to make a series of paintings with a particular person in mind.  So far I have two ladies.  Both are inspired by actual Edwardian ladies, but are completely formed from my imagination beyond that initial inspiration.  I am curious to find their stories and see where they will take my work.  For now, I am enjoying sparse landscapes and a limited palette.  Also, I couldn't resist adding in a woodland companion or two.

We are having an early Open Studios this month.  This Thursday, August 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1313 Mill St in Salem, Oregon.
